Who we are

Peter Albrecht has been representing employers for more than 20 years. He earned his undergraduate and law degrees from Washington University in St. Louis, graduating with honors. After law school, Pete practiced in Chicago for 8 years before relocating to Madison, where he became a shareholder in the law firm of Godfrey & Kahn, S.C. After nearly 13 years with Godfrey & Kahn, Pete realized a longtime dream of opening his own firm; Albrecht Labor & Employment Law, S.C. opened its doors in December 2006.

Pete is licensed to practice law in Wisconsin and Illinois. He has argued cases in various administrative agencies, trial courts, and the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals. He is also a frequent speaker on topics related to employers and employees.

Pete is married with 4 children.

LaRae Smith is the firm administrator and the person you will speak with first when you call. LaRae graduated from Madison Business College with a degree in Legal Assistant-Paralegal Studies. LaRae worked for the Madison law firm of Godfrey & Kahn for 7 years prior to joining Albrecht Labor & Employment Law. She brings more than 15 years of experience in business and property management to the firm, and is a member of the Association of Legal Administrators.

LaRae is married with 2 children.
